My 2007 animated Christmas card

Merry Christmas! This one is a little older, back in 2007 but still cute. =)

Guardians of the Galaxy ATC

So, usually people commission me to draw cutesy stuff, girls or fantasy and I have one commissioner that always sends me a welcome challenge. These are the Guardians of the Galaxy from the old Marvel books. He wanted a puzzle styled set so I did one for him. All cards 2.5 x 3.5 inches, microns, pencils, prisma markers, and sharpie pens.

Marvel Universe AP commissions 2

Some more of my Marvel Universe AP cards were approved so here they are. Phoenix with Wolverine, The Goblin Queen and The Black Queen. The original Runaways group minus the traitor kid. Had fun drawing a dinosaur. I need to draw more of them.

All are Prisma Markers, Prisma Pencils, Micron inks and acrylic paint splatter.

I have only 5 cards remaining. Note me for commission info.

Saleen is mean

If you remember Saleen I salute you. I just had a sudden whim to draw an obscure Disney mermaid character since people only ever think of the Little Mermaid movie or cartoon. This is Saleen, from the Aladdin cartoon. She was a nasty siren like character that tried to harass the gang. One episode she even tried an imitation of Ursula's plan from TLM. I don't know why more people don't remember her though.

And now back to the work I was supposed to be doing. ^_^;;

Puck Fan Art!

http://ogawaburukku.deviantart.com/art/Don-t-Give-A-Puck-265899529?q=gallery%3Aogawaburukku&qo=0

So, originally I had tried to get people to draw some pin ups for my Faux Facts books but only one person really expressed interest and delivered a finished product but having just recently got it. (Completely understand the schedule issues!) It will now be fan art for my site and I’ll try to fit it in a future volume. If you want to draw finished fan art (please not just rough doodles.) from either of my series I will try to fit you guys in a future volume. Just note me.

So here OgawaBurukku has drawn Puck and his evil little familiar. Love the pun on this one. Though if you have read volume three, it might not be as accurate. ;)

Scooby Dooby Doo...

Spent the last few days drawing Hanna Barbara like drawings of the Josie and the Pussycats for some ATC by 5*Finity and a Scooby Doo movie was on last night so I just thought I'd draw Velma and Daphne with their style mixed with mine. I'm not sure what they're running from but yeah they do tend to run a bit in that show don't they.

Ah Heck!! The Angel Chronicles

I’ve had no time at all to draw much of anything so here’s a quick doodle of Angel from Ah Heck! It’s so strange going back to this style so much later.

Some of the guys....

So, I think what I'll do rather than uploading tons of guy art, I'll do many posts in one or add to this image with more chibi/demi versions of boy characters in my series. To start with these are some characters from Zorilita's universe. The first is the Christian and the others are resistance forces.

The Coma Guest Pin up

I was asked to do a guest pin up for The Art of Coma art book that's going to come out for Javier Hernandez's Coma comic book. I don't often get to draw guys or are asked to any way, so I think it came out pretty good. The plot of his book has to do with a guy in a coma that finds things are a lot more spooky and crazy than in normal reality.

Check it out! http://javierhernandez.deviantart.com/gallery/32030852

Returning to something I drew way back in like 2003...I redrew it, recolored it and revised it. Super cute peach girl. Textured background from somewhere on DA.

Idiot Engine Podcast with Ted Seko: Style

I’m on another Idiot Engine Podcast with Ted Seko! This time we talked about style. Give it a listen and tell me what you think.=)

Ted’s Blurb from his blog:
This episode of the ENGINE I’m joined by self-publisher/illustrator/character designer Mary Bellamy as we discuss finding style in one’s art. It’s a solid, informative and enlightening episode, and if you don’t believe me, take a listen for yourself! (See how I’m gettin’ you to listen to the episode? But seriously, it’s a good one, and just at the hour mark too, so you’ll still have time to catch that episode of that show you always like to watch afterwards!)

Woman of Wonder Day 2011

Working on a donation to a cause that definitely hits close to home...Women of Wonder Day 2011.

Adventure Time

What time is it? My first fan art and it’s an available ATC card too!

Mumm-ra Girl Type

So I really love Thundercats both series actually. I always love the villains but I don't love drawing guys so much...so I had drawn a chibi ultimate Mumm-ra eons ago, but I lost it and so I thought after seeing Adventure Time doing the main characters in the opposite gender, I'd draw Mumm-Ra the same way. It's a joke, an homage, please don't be offended. I'll draw more "normal" fan art sometime in the future.

Artist Trading Card Book

So, I’ve had no success in scanning all my artist trading cards so here’s a video to try to show all the cards. I apologize that my camera isn’t the highest quality. If there’s something you like, let me know. Or if you have suggestions, tell me. =)

More Artist Trading Cards

A batch of artist trading cards…sadly I can’t scan them so photos are the best I can do at the moment. My Little Pony Friendship is Magic as humans, Monster High girls, and Jem and She Ra.

The Munsters Commission

This has to be one of the more unique commissions I've ever gotten. No one ever asks me for anything other than the normal cute or fantasy stuff, so this was a fun change of pace. I always watched the Munsters reruns on tv but never drew them. You also never hear about them. It's always the Adams Family that everyone talks about even though they came out at the same time. Ah well. I even got the dragon, Spot, in there.

Artist for Marvel Universe Card Set

I can now announce that I am an artist on the Marvel Universe card set put out by Rittenhouse Archives…I can’t say how many cards I’ve done for them but if you’d like one of my AP cards contact me before the commission list fills up.

School Bites Guest Image

I did the guest illustration for today’s (Aug 15 2011) School Bites web comic. Go check it out! The web comic is pretty cute too! =)

Diedra lives again

So eons ago I drew a character named Diedra in her fancy underwear [link] and I just decided to revisit her character after almost 6 years just to break my art funk while working on paid work. I just left her flat colored because I like it better this way.

SDCC 2011 Wrap Up Photos

Here are some photos from the show...

SDCC 2011 Wrap Up

Wow, well I just got back from San Diego Comic Con late last night and I can say that it was a great convention for me. So here’s a recap of everything or many things that happened.

Day 1
I set out early in morning and traffic was a breeze. I got there in plenty of time and check in to the hotel was seamless, found a parking spot easily and got down to the convention center to unload everything to the palette program. Got everything set up pretty fast. Slightly annoying that our booths aisles were so much more narrow but it ended up not being as bad as I thought. I saw a lot of familiar faces like the Nemu Nemu gang, Rachel Young, Jean Kang, Diana Sprinkle, Mike Vega. Opening night was pretty good. I sold quite a few books the first night.

Day 2
I took the opportunity to see as much as I could early in the morning and this time I took far more photos than I was able to in the previous years, mostly of exhibits and dolls. I managed to get all the way down to the Warner Bros booth only to see they were being over protective of their freebies. Poo… Ah well. I was able to get quite a few things from DC and one being the Fringe book I wanted to get. I also got a mountain of free comics. Awesome! When the show started I was so surprised to find out that I had many repeat customers.   The best thing had to be this little one year old boy that bought a doll from me. Not only did he give me a high five, but he gave me a fist bump! It was so adorable. *melt* I was so happy to have sold more books and dolls. Javier Hernandez popped by and made an appearance.

Day 3
Friday was a good day too…had more time to chat with Diana Sprinkle and other table neighbors. I saw the crew from Lampost Comics and the Christian Comics Society. The artist on Revelations came over and introduced himself. Fred Perry came over and bought a Dvorak doll and a sketch book. =) Awesome! I ran into Doug TenNapel and spoke for a bit. Sales were great and people that bought the first issues of either of my books came back for the sequels. Totally cool! I was able to meet with people for potential work leads and had some people actually come up to me and apologize…so strange but in a good way.

Day 4
So Saturday was a strange day for sales…it was normally the fastest day but it was slow because people were actually lining up for tickets for SDCC 2012. Sales weren’t bad but they weren’t great. I still sold well enough though. I got some more free shirts, books and bags. By the last day the mile long hike to the center was easier. Alexandria Neonakis stopped by. We used to chat all the time online and she drew me so much Zori fan art. Tim Beedle popped on by. Kassandra Heller came by and several girls from the Womanthology project came by too.

Day 5
Sales were much better than opening night. I sold more art cards than the previous days. Was glad to talk to all my table neighbors. Convention closed early and we packed up and made the 3 hour trek home. There was a strange amount of traffic near Orange County. Got home, unpacked and went to bed.
All in all it was a great show but I was glad to get home and sleep in my own bed.

Ex Libris 3

So I had a speck of time and decided to draw another Ex Libris for the Girls Drawin' Girls. So, here's an older drawing of Bunny that's in my Sugar Bits book. Enjoy!

Sonic the Hedgehog

I did these a while back. Though I drew the Eggman, I much prefer Robotnik prime. I thought he was far more sinister. I drew some Shadow, and the rest. It's been eons since I drew this guys last and the comic has changed so much from when I used to read it. Enjoy!

I probably will never do "finished" versions of these.

Ex Libris 2

So, here’s another book plate for the Girls Drawin’ Girls volume 4 book! Pre Order the book and get this original piece of artwork or another in your book! http://girlsdrawingirls.blogspot.com/2011/06/gdg-volume-iv-pre-sale.html

This was originally a drawing I did way back in 2006 so there’s the reason for the slight difference in styles. I redrew it but you can still see old influences. I finally got to draw something with some Chinese influences and Chao Sao Bao (?) is tasty so I gave a bowl to Jereboa. Maybe it will be the year of the Jereboa? (KFP2 reference) ;)

Ex Libris 1

A quick color of an ex libris for the Girls Drawin' Girls volume 4 book
